Latest Ceer Motors DevelopmentsAI Insights

Ceer Motors plans to begin producing electric vehicles in 2026. The company signed 11 deals valued at SAR5.5 billion with primarily Saudi companies at the Public Investment Fund Public Sector Forum in Riyadh. This builds on existing partnerships worth over SAR6.6 billion with over 250 local firms. Ceer Motors, a joint venture of the Public Investment Fund and Foxconn with BMW as a component technology provider, aims to launch two vehicles by late 2026 which will be unveiled in quarter four this year 1.

The company agreed a SAR543 million deal with Italy's Sabelt for the development of sports seats for its flagship sedan and SUV models. Sabelt will create seats designed for protection, comfort, and efficiency under extreme conditions. Ceer Motors, also a tenant in the King Salman Automotive Cluster, will launch its first local EVs this year 2.

Ceer intends to start production in late 2026. A manufacturing facility is under construction in King Abdullah Economic City, with plans for an annual capacity of up to 240,000 vehicles 3.

Saudi Arabia imported 779 EVs in 2023 compared to 210 in 2022. Ceer Motors announced factory plans last November. Two automotive facilities could begin operations soon as part of the kingdom’s strategy to produce 500,000 EVs yearly by 2030 4.

Ceer is collaborating with government entities to foster the development of an extensive EV charging network. Although the Saudi EV market is nascent, the nation plans to boost production and supporting infrastructure 5.

Ceer Motors Overview

Saudi Arabia’s first electric car manufacturing company Ceer Motors was formed through a partnership between the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Foxconn, the Taiwanese contract manufacturer.

Ceer will design, manufacture and sell a range of vehicles including sedans and sports utility vehicles using licensed technology from BMW. It is also working with Rimac Technology.

In June 2024, a contract worth $2.2 billion was signed between Ceer and Hyundai Transys, through which the Korean company will supply Ceer vehicles with the integrated electric vehicle drive system.

Ceer Motors has also signed an agreement with the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company.

Modern Building Leaders is contracted to build a manufacturing complex in King Abdullah Economic City and the first Ceer EVs are scheduled to be available in 2026.

It is predicted that Ceer Motors will attract more than $150 million of foreign investment to Saudia Arabia and 30,000 job opportunities. The company is expected to contribute $8 billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by 2034.
